8th Annual “HOLY SMOKE” Christian grilling competition
It Keeps Gettin' Better!!
Saturday April 16, 2011 marked the day for the eighth annual Holy Smoke Christian Grilling Competition sponsored by Macedonia Baptist Church (Centerpoint community). It was once again a beautiful day for the competition, the fellowship, and for the entertainment. Each of the fifteen teams that participated began grilling their different entries around daylight and the delicious smelling smoke filled the air throughout the day. There was entertainment beginning just before noon and lasting until 5 p.m. with well known singers from Covington and Sylvester Ga., as well as Terrell County and Stewart County. Bar-b-que plates were sold for the noon and evening meal with all proceeds going to the Ga. Baptist Children’s home in Meansville Ga and the Methodist Children’s home in Americus.
Last year's total donation was $5262. and we were hoping to do even better this year. As it turned out the intake was slightly more than last year but expenses were much more.The total amount cleared on the event to be divided equally between Americus Methodist Children's home and Ga. Baptist Children's home in Meansville for 2011 is $4362.20Thank you all for your part in making this another successful event. We look forward to seeing you next year at HOLY SMOKE
