Holy Smoke 2026, Cook Off #22
- A Day of Fellowship, Flavor, and God’s Goodness -
Holy Smoke 2026 broke the records again. On April 11, 2026, friends, families, and church teams once again filled the grounds of the old school in the Centerpoint community of Preston, Georgia, as Macedonia Baptist Church hosted the 22nd annual Holy Smoke Christian Grilling Competition. Supported by area churches and the surrounding communities, the day overflowed with fellowship, generosity, and the unmistakable presence of God’s blessings.
This year brought another picture‑perfect spring day; warm sunshine, and an occasional breeze, and a crowd ready to enjoy great food and great company. Seventeen church teams fired up their grills and smokers, offering their best in barbecue pork, chicken, and ribs, all while donating their time and talents to support this mission effort. Thirteen teams also joined the friendly competition on the corn hole boards, adding even more fun to the day.
Gospel music filled the air from morning until late afternoon, with singers and groups from across the region sharing their gifts to uplift and encourage. Their willingness to serve made the day even more meaningful, reminding everyone why Holy Smoke exists: God’s people working together to bless others.
Singers were: One Accord, William Herndon, Restored, Dayspring, Kingdom Express, Jessica Welch, Beth Cobb Scott
There was plenty of food and fellowship. Barbecue plates, concessions, and T‑shirt sales helped build the day’s total. As always, local auctioneer and Macedonia church member, Billy Black (New Era Land Co) highlights the evening with the cake auctions. Once again Mr. Billy brought energy and excitement as he auctioned off cakes and one special item. This year before the cakes were auctioned there was a beautifully crafted birdhouse donated by Charlie McCardle, a friend to Macedonia, It is a true work of art that sparked some lively bidding and ultimately sold for an incredible $2,000. Next up was the cake auctions. When it was all said and done, the seventeen cakes had brought in a whopping $8,300.00
By the end of the day, Holy Smoke 2026 reached another remarkable milestone in giving. Through team entry donations, food and T-shirt sales, the cake auction, the special birdhouse auction, and numerous personal contributions, the event raised another record-breaking total. This year’s total, setting another all-time donation record, was $26,850.40 to be divided equally between the Homes. As we continue the tradition of supporting the GA Baptist Children’s Home in Meansville and the Methodist Girl’s Home in Americus it seems that each year the total grows, and each year we are reminded of what God can do when His people come together with willing hearts.
Trophies were awarded for the top three entries in each cooking category, as well as for a Cornhole Champion and the overall Grand Champion title. But beyond the awards, the true victory was the unity, laughter, and love shared throughout the day.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to every cooking team, singer, judge, volunteer, and supporter who made Holy Smoke 2026 a success. We also offer special appreciation to our faithful community partners; Adams Food Center, Jones Sanitation, Merritt Pecan Co., Grimsley Farms, and all who contributed goods, services, and donations. Your generosity continues to make a lasting difference.
Holy Smoke 2026 was more than an event—it was a celebration of God’s goodness, a testimony of community, and a reminder that when we serve together, we shine His light in powerful ways. Praise the Lord for another unforgettable year.
